On May 4 Mary Paillé, Janette Copley, Glenn Robitaille, Angie Limmer, and I had the opportunity to gather with our extended BIC Canada family for our Be In Christ Church of Canada Annual General Meeting. In addition to the necessary business, it was really a time to be encouraged by the various things that God is doing through us and to be challenged to dream about what God could be inviting us to.\
We got to hear about how a heart for the community and creating a safe space for connection and asking questions has led to a church plant in Tavistock that meets on a Friday night (and is called Friday Night Lights). (We heard about a small community of people in Kincardine who have rented a space in their downtown core to meet in on Sundays, but more significantly to be used as a community hub and drop in space during the week - including hosting a weekly drop-in lunch for local high school students where they get served free pizza. (www.canadianbic.ca/agm2019-incarnational-stories/) We heard about Reunion Network - a unique church planting arm of BIC Canada - and how they are planting churches across Canada . . . and even in Kuwait! (www.canadianbic.ca/agm2019-reuninon-network/)
I encourage you to go to www.canadianbic.ca/agm2019videos/ to watch videos of all of the presentations. Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the video labeled "REUNION" to see the story of how there came to be a BIC Canada church in Kuwait! I hope it encourages us to dream together about what God might be inviting us to consider in Penetang, Midland, and area.
As a note for prayer, Doug Sider, our BIC Canada Executive Director, was not able to attend our AGM. He has had health issues since last November and, while things had seemed to be getting better, he has recently developed more struggles. Shortly after our AGM, the BIC Canada Board extended Doug a four-month leave of absence in which to focus exclusively on his own health. Please pray for Doug, his wife, and their daughters during this time.
