In order to maintain real hope, we need our confident expectation to be in the right person for the best thing at the best time. We spoke about this on Sunday. To help you continue to reflect on this and to exercise this hope, please find some time this week to consider the following scripture. May God use these words to help build us up in true Christian hope: a confident expectation in the right person for the best thing at the best time.
God wanted to make the glorious riches of this secret plan known . . . which is Christ living in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27
And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:2
For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.
Galatians 5:5
Tell people who are rich at this time not to become egotistical and not to place their hope on their finances, which are uncertain. Instead, they need to hope in God, who richly provides everything for our enjoyment. Tell them to do good, to be rich in the good things they do, to be generous, and to share with others. When they do these things, they will save a treasure for themselves that is a good foundation for the future. That way they can take hold of what is truly life.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “Look! God’s dwelling is here with humankind. He will dwell with them, and they will be his peoples. God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more. There will be no mourning, crying, or pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look! I’m making all things new.” He also said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:1-5
