Last week I encouraged you to make a call if you need some help, some support, or some connection. Today the reminder is simple...don't wait for someone to call you!
Much has been made about the negative effects of isolation on mental health. Social interaction is one of the top recommendations that the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health suggests for those who are in quarantine or self-isolation. (https://www.camh.ca/en/health-info/mental-health-and-covid-19/quarantine-and-isolation) We want to be able to gather again and offer handshakes or hugs. In the meantime, though, don't forget about the "next best" things we can do.
Phone someone who may be lonely. (Even if they aren't, they may love to hear from you!)
Schedule a video chat.
Text your friends.
You can be light in someone's darkness today if you are willing to make a call!
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
