See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!
1 John 3:1
You are beloved. I am beloved.
Some days I just need to be reminded of this and hold on to it.
When I'm overtired and struggling to respond in healthy ways.
When I'm struggling to feel I need to perform well in order to be acceptable.
When I'm disappointed in how things are or where they seem to be going.
I need to hold on to the truth that I am loved by God. Not because I respond well or perform well or accomplish things well. Not because I'm perfect. Not because I have done something to earn love. But rather because God is love and he has chosen to lavish his love on us. And that helps me keep stepping when each step is hard. It helps me to live with my mistakes and still be at rest and I look to what is next for me in the present and in the future. It helps me process disappointment and not be ruled by my expectations about what I feel should be. I can do that because I am safe, secure, and rested in the arms of a loving father.
Some days I desperately need to be reminded of this and hold on to it.
I suspect you need to be reminded of it some days, too. May this be your reminder.
You are beloved.
