I was reminded this week of a prayer attributed to St. Theresa of Avila. It says this:
Christ has no body now on earth but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world. Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which He is to bless His people.
People of God, those who have received the blessing of life in Jesus, are to be known by our love for others. But love without action is mere emotion. As you walk through this day, I encourage you to prayerfully consider how the love of God is flowing through you. How are you, and us together, being the body of Christ - his hands and feet?
I pray that as you and I live this day and the days ahead that we will be filled with the love of Jesus. That we will have a security in knowing you and I are beloved children of God who, in being deeply loved, are free to love others in beautiful and compelling ways.
